Jul 26, 2017 · Took me 3 different visits before they replaced the slave. They did try replacing different things each time though. First was the clutch pedal assembly, then the clutch line (they pulled the transmission at the same time to inspect the clutch), finally after repeated requests from me they replaced the slave and it fixed the problem.

**update** got a phone call from the dealer this afternoon and after over 3 weeks they reckon they have found the fault, it turns out despite replacing the entire clutch at a cost of over £1400 in parts alone, the problem was a broken return spring on the shaft that the clutch pedal pivots on. car is being returned on Friday, will update ...
On some cars the clutch pedal is slow to return or won't return at all. I was told the transmission would have to be removed to get to all the parts needed to be replaced. Anyone else have or had this problem? I was able to get the clutch to return to normal position and the problem has gone away and not come back as of yet.

Fluid has bypassed the o-rings and has created a slight vacuum which the return spring cannot overcome thus preventing the piston from resetting. Failure of the slave would not prevent the pedal from returning as additional fluid would just be drawn in from the reservoir. This was relatively common on the MR2 mk2.

I have an 04 plate 1.2 Eleganza, and have noticed the clutch pedal occasionally "sticks" to the floor and fails to return. Often just before it happens the clutch pedal becomes slightly juddery, moving in sort of half-inch steps rather than travelling smoothly. After a few times of the pedal sticking to the floor, all is fine for the next few ...
On my dad’s 2004 Tacoma he had been noticing his clutch pedal is slow to return, to the point that sometimes he has to pull it up with the toe of his shoe. He says the pedal seems to be low in the morning when he gets in the truck. I have checked and the fluid level is fine and there is no obvious signs of fluid loss that I can see. So any ideas?

I looked through my owners manual. It never mentions anything about the clutch fluid, not even checking the level. This is definitely getting added to the list of things I do at each oil change. While I'm thinking of it, poke your head under the steering wheel and check on your clutch pedal return spring.
Over the last 10,000 miles / 10 months, the clutch pedal has become sticky and slow to return in the up position, for the last two-three inches. In other words, when I release the clutch pedal, there is slight delay, before it taps the bottom of my foot. I have been driving sticks since 1984 and have never had this in any of my vehicles. the Fiesta has a hydraulic clutch so there is no cable to adjust or a quadrant. if you disconnect (or tape close) the pedal position switch on the clutch pedal you'll be able to start the Fiesta without pressing the clutch pedal. not a good idea if you have it in gear.
